Control of healthcare costs measured by reductions in utilization and medical care expenditures has been achieved through preventive interventions. Several categories of intervention shown to be effective include (but not limited to) health education, workplace environment and safety culture, behavioral change, public health, benefits design, as well as direct medical care services.
